235 on Brescia?
« on: 04 November 2019, 15:49 »
Does anyone have practical experience of running a 235/35 19 tyre on a Brescia wheel, compared to the standard 225/35/19 factory fitment?
Thanks!

No practical experience, but a 235/35 will have slightly higher sidewalls than a 225/35, so you may experience more sidewall flex during cornering. You’d also need to inform your insurer as changing to a tyre size that’s different to the original factory spec tyres is considered to be a modification.

Upsizing was common when I had my BMW, 215s to 225s on the front and 245s to 255s on the rear.  Benefits as above.

Thank you for the response up to now, I would be grateful to hear from anyone who has actually run the 235 tyre  on Brescia alloys.

Any issues such as rubbing lock etc.....?

Cheers.

I've done it a few weeks ago.
I put the wider ones on the rear, and will do the fronts when the original 225 Pirelli tyres wear out.

235s are the width you get on the R and with Pretoria wheels, no fitment issues, rubbing or any other real difference.
Also because of that I consider them a standard size, not a modification.

I also did this slight width increase on my Corrado back in the day, going from 195 to 205.

I don't think there will be a noticeable difference in grip or handling as the change is very small. Certainly it is far beyond my driving skills or habits to discern.

The reason I did it was for a that little bit more rim protection, it doesn't hurt that I like the look too. ;-)

Check the pictures, but please excuse the dirt!

Thanks for the response and pictures.

They look a good fit on the rims, I am also looking for the extra rim protection the 235 offers as the main reason to fit them.
