18" or 19" Wheel colour/type help me ideas thread
« on: 01 November 2009, 10:28 »
What wheels do you think will work and look ok on this colour (shadow blue met)?

Sorry for some of the red tinge in the photos its a stupid cameraphone.
Also the car below is on stilts due to transporter blocks.

Couple of photos of shadow blue i got off the net.

So wheels, ideas please guys/girls?
Thanks
Geoff.

17s look tiny against the mk6 due to the car looking so big from the side, av to be 19s and i think silver with large spokes going right out to the rim,
like on the new R would look the part, dont think any other colour would go with that blue?
The 19s on mine look like 17s
Mk6 Gti Gone but not forgtten

The only ones i have ruled out are the polished/lac finished type wheels due to i have had enough problems with the monza II's white worm on our mk5 to last me a lifetime.

It has to be something silver due to to the dark colour of paint.
Dark wheels aren't going to go well.

Hows about a set of BBS CV's?

Golf R... 3 door, DSG, Leather, Reflex Silver, Black 19" Talladega Wheels, ACC, Parking Sensors, RNS510 with Dynaudio, Reverse Camera, Luxury Pack, Cruise Control & Fiscon Bluetooth.

I like the Thunder wheels too. There is/was a set on German ebay when I last looked (not cheap though!). The have something like an ET41 offset too so should sit nice and flush in the arches.

Those Thunder wheels are machined/laquered, so will suffer white worm. One of the modern BBS wheels in 18" or 19" will look right. As long as it's silver. RS GT is my favorite.

I don't know how well real bright silver wheels would look  :undecided: as if you look at the medium/dark metallic blue BMWs for example the very light silver wheels don't seem to go that well. Similar with the many blue SEATs about. The photo below is similar to what i meen, maybe its me i have no colour coordination at all, So im told regular .
So i do need all the help i can get with this one.  :nerd:
