i hear what you're saying R32UK, however at the end of the day if different cars have different gearing, then thats a true life reflection of their performance. no measure will be absolutely perfect.
Erm, you are aware that cars can drop gears?
You couldnt do that test in a DSG for example as it will drop to the optimum gear; what you are supposed to do!
not quite sure what you mean. if i was doing a 30-70 through the gears test then I'd just try several times, trying to start in 2nd or maybe even 1st and then working up the gears.
i don't think the 30-70 test means starting in a higher (cruising) gear and then dropping down some gears to the optimum and then work up to 70. i think that's why they have the 30-70 in 4th gear (or top gear) test... tho that is just cruising flexibility... and autos cane that test since they kick down whereas manuals will be forced to stay in gear.
