How many miles has the car done?  And has the actual 'bite point' changed?

Change the clutch fluid.  Just bleed it - same as brakes.  Why the lazy feckers at the stealers can't flush the clutch when they do the brake fluid change is beyond me!

and its on 71000k now........

Should still be fine, providing the clutch hasn't been abused in any way.

Is there any 'official' recommendation for flushing the clutch fluid? If not, what would you recommend. Mine is 3 yrs old, 45k miles.

It should 'officially' be done at the same time the brake fluid change - ie every two years.

Thanks, never knew that. Damn, just had the brake fluid done too

Will get it done at the next service. Presume the system has the regular VAG brake fluid in it? Is it easy to do in terms of access etc?

Just normal VAG brake fluid - fed from the brake master cylinder resevoir.  If you are doing it yourself, you must ensure you keep the resevoir topped up to the max during bleeding, because the 'pick-up' pipe for the clutch fluid has a much higher point within the resevoir compared to the brake circuits (a standard 'safety' feature on all cars).  The clutch bleed nipple should be visible on the top of the gearbox housing - you might need to remove the engine cover and air intake trunking for easier access.

D'oh! Me too - brake fluid was done two weeks ago!!  :undecided:

Still, I've got an outstanding A/c recharge to be done. I mean, FFS who actually needs A/c in Glasgow...?
