Bit of an update. Got a few jobs done, as MOT ran out last week. Its booked in for Saturday morning, but I'm not overly confident it'll pass as the ABS Light/display has been butchered in the past, and doesn't work. ABS is fully working though, as tested by VCDS, and stamping on the brakes at 35mph!
First up was changing the heater matrix. Since I'd taken the rest of the interior out, and needed to sort out the abomination that was the dash/ignition wiring, I thought I may as well. Turns out it had been changed previously (matrix taken out was stamped as manufactured in 08), but I'd already bought the new one, and wanted to sort the heater box out anyway.
All the interior went back in, and I now have heat control from the blowers.
Next it was safety!
Handbrake didn't hold. This was a combination of alot of things! I'll let the pics do the talking!
New cable, hose, pads, and caliper refirb kit all round. Fluid renewed and bled all round, and it now stops as well as it goes!
Work slowed down a little after this as I got a little delivery!
A bit of tooing and froing then it was back to work!
Inlet off and polished up and heat reflective tape put on the back, rocket gasket changed, stat and housing replaced, coolan flushed and changed, TB cleaned and stoopid HIDS removed!
Whilst leaning on the block to remove the manifold, the whole block tilted forward!
I now know why I was getting random sloppy gear changes!
New bolt inserted and all is now well!
Did a compression test and cleaned the bay up. Results of compression test are within tolerance, without being great tbh.

Finally, a couple of tyres were near the limit, and the other two had cracking on the edge of the tread. I'm after a nice set of RX2s, or RCs in a few months time, so just needed something for the interim. These then came up for a price I simply couldn't refuse, all with tyres 6mm up.
Wheels were a bit grubby to begin with, but soon sorted them out!
Marks left over are corrosion, but not too fussed as they'll be flogged on once I get the solitudes refirbed, booted out, and have me a set of decent summers.
Couldn't resist giving the car a quick wash n wax whist at it though!
We'll see what, if anything (fingers crossed) the MOT throw up before deciding whats next on the agenda!
