have you tried leaving the engine running and unplugging the wiring harness on cylinder 4 coil pack to see if the engine note changes? if it changes its fine, if it doesn't its buggered.
Might be worth checking the plugs after that too..
ARZ K03s, Oettinger Side Skirts, R32 front, Carbon stage 2, Forge 007p (yellow spring), Forge Actuator (yellow spring), Pipercross panel filter with DSG parts, N249 and N112 deleted, SAI deleted, Carbon canister deleted, Rear wiper deleted, Long Life turbo back custom exhaust with 200 cell sports cat, VR6/G60 clutch kit, Creation Motorsport TIP, Catch can, 'Wellycooler', K04 charge pipe, S3 ported inlet manifold - looks pretty standard on the outside though :)

Yeah that's a job for this weekend. I'd be surprised as I put new plugs in about 20k miles ago and also replaced all coil packs at some point around 25k miles ago but agree it's an easy check so will report back!

Good to start looking at the cost/options for replacement in the meantime though

Could also be a wiring issue, the loom has been known to dry out in the heat and break down

Thanks Wazzzer - not sure this would cause the issue only under a maintained full throttle scenario though? Good point though, I'll chase the wires as best I can to see but guess I can also run a multimeter on the various end connection points.

All,

Thanks for your help and advice with this one. Bought a coil pack from Eurocarparts and swapped it over last night. So far so good issue solved and no codes showing after a run.  :smug:

I'm fully expecting one of the other three to die at some point soon and when it does I'll just replace all 4 and keep the one I just bought in the boot as a spare.

Cheers,

OSR.
