N75 valve
« on: 07 December 2015, 13:15 »
Hello,

Getting a bit of funny boost delivery on my 1.8t aum, it keeps going into soft limp mode when changing gear if I'm giving it a little stick, it only last for a few seconds, it'll peak at 10 psi then when I shift it will only boost 6psi then shoot to ten and it'll be fine till I shift again, i also can't get it to deliver the power smoothly it's either no boost of full boost I'll put the pedal down slowly but when it gets to the turbo range it's like a switch being flicked on to full boost then if I ease off it'll be smooth, I've checked for leaks had all the boost pipes off cleaned up and refitted making sure it can't leak and it still does it, no fault codes as I've checked with vag com, I'm leaning towards n75 but I thought I'd check on here before I buy one as there pretty pricey from tps,

Thanks

Unplug your N75 and see if it runs 5-7 psi steady, think they call it safe/limp mode but if it runs smooth then your waste gate is fine just a dodger n75 pal. Remember to get the J if buying a new one as I found they last a little longer
Golf GTI ... What else would you have?

I've had similar issues with my boost for nearly 6 months and always looked into vac pipe leaks etc. but never found any. Anyway Golf ran like a tractor one morning and fault codes were Oxygen sensor fault pre Cat which was followed by a ignition coil No. 2 fault. So replaced sensor £151.00 and the coil £31.00 which cured the tractor issue but also removed the intermittent boost loss in the higher gears

I've replaced all coils and both 02 sensors, the problem still lives, using genuine parts too
