Clocks not working
« on: 28 June 2017, 13:25 »
Hi Guys,

Right, i have a 1996 Avantgarde 2.0 and having problems with the clocks

Mileage counter does not tick over, speedometre and techometre isnt working corectly either.

I bought another set of used clocks and same issue with them. so now i'm lead to believe this is something to to with the connections (sf the purchase clocks are in good order as the seller said).

so my question is does any one know of this issue at all and what the problem could potentially be?

Regards
MVB

Any of the control lights coming on when you turn the ignition on?

Which engine code is it?

Have you tried speedo test mode?
Perhaps a GND fault on gearbox speed senders.

Test mode: https://youtu.be/JtHiQv39OMU

Mk3 speedo is not diagnosable via OBD - it has no link to OBD socket whatsoever.

GND fault, i.e. Ground connection for senders is wonky, so sensor won't work.
Sometimes and a bit incorrectly people refer to GND as Earth....
