Depends who you're insured with as not all do this
If you don't have 'new for old' in a policy, then the policy is going to be very limited and a false economy. Pretty much any reputable insurance company/broker will offer 'new for old' on a new car, which lasts for 12-24mths.

GAP on a brand new car is a total waste of money.

OP just check your policy, I would wager it's already there, that is unless you insure with a specialist on a restricted terms policy.
Most Gap policies don't kick in until year two anyway and I'm sure when I bought my RTI Gap policy they asked me who I was insured with. I think for the small amount of money it's well worth a policy as long as you've checked your car insurance provider first that is.

Then why buy it now? It's certainly no cheaper to buy it now then when the car is 12mths old.

I think the one thing we all agree on though is dealer GAP is a complete rip-off, a good GAP policy can be had for £150-£250.

I did get Gap free from the dealer when I bought my Gtd in 2013 so it was worth it then. If you buy your policy when the car is new it's cheaper than buying it when it's a year old. 👍

I just paid £149 for the first two services when I picked mine up just before Christmas. They said it should have been £199 though.
