If the dvla change the log book to say its now a vr6 then dosn't that mean you can insure it as a vr6 if you do an insurance quote for a vr6 and then at the end give them your reg it will be the same. If they then turn around and say its not a vr6 its came up as a gti you then say no its on the log book as a vr6 maybe i don't know if not could always buy a vr6 instead 

exactly my thinking mate!!! as its just an engine swap if logbook says vr6 i dont have to declare anything!! if i then supercharge etc etc etc then yes i would have to declare!!! im going to keep my fingers crossed for this mate. if they dont accept this shows how corrupt insurance companies are at just wanting your cash when living aint exactly cheap atm, neither is petrol, or road tax and then getting stung by insurance?? i think not loooool

Yes you will have to declare it, the logbook will show 2800cc but as a GTI so it is a conversion.

Not being honest with insurance companies is daft as they will find out in the end.

I'm not saying I wouldn't declare mods etc as I would and its not worth the risk as I rely on my license for my job.

Its just annoying how all insurers say that you have modified the engine when I haven't, the car IS modified but technically the engine is standard. If you know what I mean! Shame I can't afford to buy a vr but can afford to buy the engine lol

Adrian flux is who im with, specialist dept. and i now pay 100 quid less a year for my S3 powered golf with every mod than what i did with direct line for a golf gti 1993 Standard..  i can drive any other car on 3rd party still and my car has agreed valie of 7.5k!

7.5k wow! Ill bell em again as iv managed to source some coilovers also, aparently more mods = less premium. That confuses me lol

i would never expect to get so much from selling it - do the mods for myself not to make money. but yea the value to me is probably more than that even so always good to get agreed value on somehting thats had lots spent on it
