Cheers for the bump :-)

There is no limit on what power the AGU ecu can control, all the mapping in the motronic 5 ecu I'd based on (ms) and fuel based on air mass which works out injection in milli seconds.  The limiting factor is the maf scale which all the fuel and timing is based on, but if the MAF area is increased then the map scale window will in the same %.  Then the tuner will need to dial in the load v the timing.

A lot of time is needed to set this ecu for big power unlike the me7.5 ecu. If your going to want the agu to run big power then the best way is use an electronic boost controller, and a wideband lambda LC1 system with gauge which can emulate the narrow band signal for the ecu, then all the ecu is taking care of is just the load based ignition timing and injection duration.

They best way to go would be Omex D600 ecu which allows for mapping based around MAP (boost) which means a mafless setup and more fine tuning control.

I have took the older motronic 2 ecu from the early 90s from 204bhp stock to 520bhp on a c20let.

Nick, a quickie.

Wit the me7.5 I was reading about it's possible to go maf'less in setup. Any benefit to going mafless and have you tried it? Also where's the best place to pick up a spare 7.5 ecu to play around with?

Never tried it in the mapping, but I know when running with the maf disconected the car will fuel and drive fine WOT.  I will try it when mine is up and running again.  But I would say its best to run a maf in place, and scale the mapping for bigger housings.

Ebay for cheap me7.5

  • Mk2 GTI FTW !!
ive seen this as well cant remember what thread it was now tihnk it was uk-mkiv's they had to guess the air to fuel ratio as they removed the MAF as a weakpoint.. imo if running big power i wouldn't like to 'guess' lol

I would of thought with a MAP present you would still be able to work out the sufficient amount off fuel needed, which is not really guessing then  :nerd: Just wanted to know if any benefits arose in a mafless setup.

Me7 Primary fuel is based on air flow using the KRKTE (fuel constant map) and MAF scale, which in short is a constant calculation for x amount of injection on time for x amout of air drawn.

With the maf unplugged the ecu will still get load readings, which I think its based on MAP reading and a few fancy maps in the sw?.  The ecu can use load to fuel closed loop from the the 02 sensor and the KFLBTS lookup table map, (requested lambda for component protection based on load and a model EGT start point trigger.) The wideband 1.8Ts will run fine under load and big power but will have fuel trims all over the place.  I would worry about a mafless tune on a narrow band 02 1.8T like the ARZ.

When I go GT35R I have decide to go for a maffless setup after spending 9 hours making a theory base map for a maffless tune with all SAI and Evap correction switched off.

Just reading up the other day ECU's that have a loop reading system with the MAP and don't have a MAF present, I assumed the 7.5 could do similar... interesting though.
