VW are halting production of the new Golf for four extra day over the Easter, prompting speculation that sales are slow.
The manufacturer says the decision to shut three plants is in response to requests from employees for a longer break over Easter.
However, analysts quoted in today's FT say the move is because of slow sales. On continental Europe, VW is already giving away free AC as an incentive to buyers - although the company says this is to mark the Golf's 30th birthday and has nothing to do with sales figures.
