hi all i have a 1.6 mk3 golf with a Diagnostic port
what will this show me as i do not have a ecu??

To be honest, if you aren't aware that your car has an ECU then it's probably best you don't even bother trying to scan for fault codes :lipsrsealed:

how long has a car with a carb had a ecu??
never worked on a car this old be for use to working on cars that are way out of the (working mans pay grade)

It has not got a carb, it is single point injection, all mk3 Golf petrols were injection in one form or another.

If your used to working on cars that are out of a working mans " pay grade " which i assume means bmws and mercs etc and you dont know the differance between single point injection and carbs and diag plugs im worried for the people who own said upper class vehicles....

spi is basically an electronic carb (well near enough), but as said it's fully electronic and vag-com is what you need
b.t.w the ecu is under the wipers/scuttle panel
