Sound deadening!
Might do a few pics sometime but here is a good tip that has quietened my car no end.
Under rear seat.
Lift up the seat squabs (what you sit on) You will see bare metal, well sorry painted metal.
I had some left over Dynamat so placed this on the metal to cover as much as I could.
(Needs a bit more to fully cover)
I also had some sound deadening mat from old cars but I guess you could pick some up from a scrappy.
Put that on first then laid all the cables for amp/sub/cd on top and another layer of thinner mat on top to cove whole area.
This has made a great difference to the noise inside the car!
-
cheers len, gr8 tip!
looking at sound deadening around the door cards and dash area to reduce vibration form speakers and engine, etc. so when i get some, i will remember to pick up more for under the rear seats :afro:
LL ;)

Thats a great tip. Ive noticed alot of road noise in the car especially from the rear.
-
use something called brownbread...its the shizzle of sound deadning and not bulky like most (my car has lots of the stuff as i got 10 packs free when i worked in the trade!!)
-
Well I realised when changing the rear seats that it was the only bit of the car floor that didnt have any sound proofing on it!
I have to do the doors with Dynamat next!
-
Len at this rate my 8v will be faster than your 16!! Sound deadner and dynamat weights some and with my bone structure!! :smug:
-
Ah well I'm only going to put some small pieces of dynamat on the outer door skins behind the speakers!
Weight factor? Well I'm 18 stone anyway so why worry!
-
bump.
-
Was wondering what happened to this! Mod edit of title!

Fair enough!

Any other tips welcome!

Where would the normal layman source brown bread or dynamat ?
-
Dynamat form Halfords!
Brown bread you'll have to ask Boney!

Thanks chaps!

While this post is back up. Could someone share: Besides under the rear seats and door cards:
Where should one place brownbread and equiv for best soundproofing for ones dollarpound?
The mk3 isn't a quite machine and it's good to know? What sort of weight gain are we talking too? some soundproofing can add a bit too much weight.
-
Dynamat or similar products is the heavy stuff and is used really where metal is thin and likely to vibrate/resonate.
The brownbread stuff I assume is fairly light.
To answer above then as well as those first two favourites I would look at the bulkhead and front floor and then the boot.
-
I tried calling SoundSolutions from the link shown..number not receiving incoming calls and sending them an email and it comes back as Failed Mailer Deamon thing..
Looking to buy some brownbread..if anyone knows where else i could get hold of some?
Thanks
Christo

Just sound deadened both doors with 2.5mm stuff from a guy called loudboy on Talkaudio. It's fricking brilliant. About £22 a metre sq sheet. 1 sheet does the inner & outer skin of a front door. He also does a 4mm for £30 a sheet.
I've got a couple of pics
-
Ah cool, so 4 sq metres should be enough to do all 4 doors thougherly then. has it made a significant difference using the 2.5mm sheet, or do you think id be better off opting for the 4mm gear?
-
I normally can't tell the difference between things. Mp3 & cd quality for instance. But having these installed in my fiesta (no deadening) & installed in my golf, I've noticed the midbass is more prominent, & they are clearer at higher volumes.
From outside I can feel the door vibrate but can't hear any rattles. I'm running 150wrms a side ATM & they're doing well. Will see what happens when I've got my subs in off 1.5kwrms.
The reason I opted for the 2.5mm is the 4mm is 8kg per sheet. 4 sheets = 32kg.

I have recently been having issues with a really noisy Powerflow exhaust. I bought some "SoundX" off the bay (20 square feet of it) and I've done the boot floor, boot sides, inside the boot lid and also Len's trick of under the rear seat.
Although I can still hear the exhaust, it isn't half as bad as it was  Big improvement and the entire coverage was only £30 delivered and weighed in at 7kg.

nice tip
