Oil leak timing belt side of engine
« on: 24 July 2014, 22:46 »
sorry if this as been answered I have done a search but getting mixed answers.

My car is a mk4 golf gt tdi 150, its been a good car to me but recently developed a oil leak which is worrying me. its losing quite a bit when its stood.

it looks as if its coming from the offside of engine where the belts are.

The sump was replaced 6months ago when the thread was shredded. it didn't leak after that. it also had the camshaft and timing built replaced a while ago.

what could it be? is it going to be expensive I really cant afford to keep throwing money at the car.

is there anything I can check or a common fault it could be?

thank you for your help.

id say take off the bottom timing belt cover and have a took behind the pulley. if its all oiley in there maybe the crankseal has given up
i think i love you.....
