1 Very Poorly Jag XK8 Dodo Juice Paint correction
« on: 26 October 2008, 17:27 »
Today saw me back at Gunwhalf again to another Jag this time just the XK8 which was in a very bad way, This detail was to be done again over 2 days.

Before pics: (Sorry all pics were taken on my Iphone today and not great quality.)

Someone had scratched the word "W****r" on the bootlid quite clear to see too.

Firstly the wheels were cleaned using some AS Smart wheels and a selection of brushes, the tyres were cleaned using some G101 and so were the arches.

Then the car was givan a pre-wash soak using some citrus degreaser, this was left for a few mins and rinsed.

Next up the car was foamed using some g101 to help strip any old protection.

The car was then washed using 2bm and some megs gold class shampoo.

The car was then clayed using some dodo gentle grey

The car was then rewashed and then dried using miracle drying towel and some last touch.

Next up was to inspect the MAJOR SWIRLS/RIDS

Test patch using a megs cutting pad and some fc+

After 1 hit:

50/50's

Corrected:

All the correction work nearly finished now just the back rear quarter, both bumpers and hal the bootlid, then time to cleanse and then wax.

Total time today was 8 hrs

Well back here again to finsh this off.

Firstly a quick wipe over to remove some of the dust and then got on with correcting the areas I didn't do yesterday.

Once all the correction was done I went over the car with a black 3m pad and some 3m ultrafina se.

Then the paintwork was cleansed using some Dodo lime prime lite via the pc on a megs finishing pad.

Then out came the dodo purple haze for the first coat, this was left to cure for 30 mins while this was doing I dressed the tyres with some CG new look trim gel and the arches, Cleaned out all the door/boot shuts and then cleaned the windows.

Then the wax was ready to be buffed off.

I then got on with cleaning the interior and treating the seats with some cleaner/conditioner.

Then time for a 2nd coat of purple haze this was again left for 30 mins to cure and then a final buff off and inspection and heres the end results.

50/50s

Top job.

I've borrowed an XK8 for a day and it was awesome. Gentleman's thug. Bit cramped though.

Hi mate,

Your best bet to to join up on detailingworld forum better than any book you can buy, there are lots of top detailers from across the uk on there including myself that post there work in the studio section.

Everything you need to know about detailing and car care can be found on there.

Regards
Paul
