hi guys!
« on: 16 August 2004, 12:56 »
hey,

not a gti i'm afraid but i just bought a mk2 golf driver in tornado red. Its got a few mods done to it so far but i'm looking just to tidy it up and make it better! i'll post some pics when i get my digi camera on the go, give you a quick list of whats done to it at the moment.

its been lowered but i don't know how much yet!
15"bk racing alloys
single lamp debagded grill
big bumpers
cat 1 alarm with rcl
power steering
silly upswept letterbox exhaust (soon to be changed!)
generally in pretty good nick and red rather than tornado pink!

i've got a few things planned but first i need to get rid of the exhaust. Its too loud and the most unsubtle  i've seen in a while. does anybody know of any quiet subtle exhaust manufacturers that suit a golf? i've heard that jetex exhausts are quite quiet? i'm at nottingham uni doing mechanical engineering so need something not too loud coz most of my drivings on the motorway. anyway cheers guys

I have a twin pipe system thats quite quiet, Its a single pipe all the way to the back box which is then a single back box with two pipes, I think it was made by a company called Ernst and is avalable from GSF  ;D

Welcome mate, car sounds pretty good so far, let us know when you have some pics up.  One of my old MK1 GTI's had a system like that, a straight through 3" scopion system.  Sounded like a beast, but on the motorway and the amount of sound proofing on a mk1 (none!) it became v annoying at times, it made my stereo a pointless investment.  I've heard the same about Jetex systems, better flow but nowhere near as much Rummm bub bub bub pop pop pop bang pop!  ;D

hello mate, welcome.

You could try a Remus exhaust? Elite in Dagenham, Essex are a good suppkier for them ask for "Keef" if you call.

Welcome to the site Acko.
On the exhuast issue - I suggest you try your local powerflow outlet. They can tailor an exhuast to you requirements. Anyone who has one, will reccommend it over anything else.
