But when you take out insurance you are asked have you been involved in a road traffic accident regardless as fault. Unless you lie your insurance will go up.

At the end of the day a Mk3 golf will be cubed for more than a bent bumper even with the best insurance.
Unless you have a policy covering the value of the car (HIC do one) you get book value which is 0.
The you go through the "its worth more than £500" argument..........

Not always the case.....last May I got £1200 for mt P Reg 8v in standard condition and that was through the AA. Some insurance companies are aware that these cars are well loved and looked after by enthusiasts.

no mate, not at all!

my dad is a good bloke, he understands how hard i bust my ass all year working while i'm at uni (with a job too) and working two jobs all my summer holidays so i can pay my way through uni and afford to run a car

he said it will be a much bigger blight on my record trying to insure another car with a claim than it would be to him

so keep your snide comments about how i am as a son to yourself ok? you don't have a clue about me or my old man who is a bloody good chap and the best dad i could ever had ....... rant over
