8v gti conversion vr6 vs 1.8t

VR6 conversion has a point if you have a very solid shell and the VR6s you can buy are rust buckets, but since there are so many VR6s in the UK that shouldn't be much of a concern.

1.8T... The VR isn't getting anywhere near 225bhp without a fair bit of work!
As Wayne has said, Lighter, Highly tuneable engine!
Would definitly buy a donor car and attempt this myself if:
a) I knew more
b) Had the time!

Just to repeat what has already been said in the thread, personally I don't see the point of dropping a VR6 into a Mk3 because you could just go and buy one for a lot less hassle. For me it's gotta be the 1.8T

My 1.8t conversion using an AUm engine going from an 8v GTi is looking to cost be under 2k, I think im looking at around 1800-1900. I am getting a few bits on the cheap though

how are you getting this done so cheap, are u doing it yourself or are you gettin parts done by a garage mate??

is that AUm engine only 180 bhp?
