On mine, I just hold the <> buttons down and then press and release the * button, even just after switching on it works.

Do all the buttons work when the unit is on?

Maybe it is a firmware thing.

Got it to reboot.

Its the < and > keys.

If i press them in the middle they don't work 90% of the time. (tested them changing radio presets)

If i press them with my finger nail at the top of the button they work everytime and it rebooted.
