Tyre Size
« on: 17 December 2010, 15:26 »
Hi All

Have one good 205/50/15 and 3 that need replacement urgently

Got prices today and i can get 4 195/50/15 fitted for 240 euro plus tracking or I can get 3 205/50/15 for 210 euro plus tracking.

The one good tyre i have is in good condition.

Will there be a big difference in grip with the smaller tyre and worried that it may long wrong on the car.

What do ye think? Presume theres plenty here with the 195's fitted?
Just want to check as i was really stuck for 2 rear tyres and the only ones i could get on the day were 205/60/15 and they basically ruined the look of the car so they have to go plus one of the fronts as its got damage to the side wall

Biggest concern is grip and look of the 195??

Cheers

Brian

Early Mk3's were originally fitted with 195's anyway so you have no worries with fitment and gear ratios. If anything the 195's compliment the vehicles handling better and should improve it slightly as the tyre walls will infact be marginally stiffer and looks wise a tiny bit lower profile. Go for them over the 205's mate.

Yep much better bet, I switched from 205's to 195's no issues at all.
