buying a volkswagon

I am looking to buy a Volkswagen golf. I am 18 years old and this will be my first car so I was hoping for a better idea on Volkswagens such as is their any faults to look out for and what is the very most amount of miles I should buy? all views would be welcomed. thanks

What mark of Golf?  There's 7 of them.

I want to spend no more than 1,000 if possible, I live around Essex and im not 100% on the different makes to be completely honest with you but I think the one im looking at is called the golf gti

if your after a gti make sure its the 1.8t but I would check insurance due to your age but that's the gti you want the rest are rubbish  :smiley: oh and welcome
