Drive shaft

Off side drive shaft required, will any Golf mk4 drive shaft fit (1.6 2.0gti Diesel) straight onto my 18t.

Or before I replace it, is there a repair kit for either end?

You can buy a need boot and that.

Sounds like I have a farm of pigs squealing under my off side wing.
Replaced disc's and pads, suspension arm with bushes and top mount rubber bush.
Nothing left to change other than the CV joints or whole drive shaft if easier.

Passed MOT on Sat but they dont run it on rolling road when testing

Got no visible wear marks or shiney areas on the drive shaft.

Not touched the bearing, is the pinch bolt the castle looking bolt holding the hub on?
Dont want to remove anything until i'm replacing the faulty bit

if you took the whole strut out to replace the top mount then you should really replace the pinch bolt, its a one use. My knocking was cured when I replaced my top mount and fitted new bolt. Dont need to touch the wheel bearing for it to give up. Jack car and rock wheel 12/6 position ans 3/9 position. If movement in both then bearing could be at fault .

J&R, search for them on ebay. They do DS for £40ish quid delivered and they garuntee them for 12 months.

Thats pretty cheap.

Noise stopped and has not come back since Friday, the noise has gone from waking the whole street up at 7am to complete silence
