mk2 1.8t aum engine running issues
« on: 26 October 2014, 13:53 »
hope someone can point me in the right direction.

Yesterday me and the kids went out for a drive in the 20v drove lovely for 20/30 miles stopped off for a bit.

then on the way home along the motor way the car started to judder under acceleration then started firing on 3 cylinders, but kept going back to firing on 4 just really temperamental.

Managed to limp it home, stuck it in the garage until this morning i checked all connections, fuel pump still priming but will only fire on 3 cylinders today.

fuel starvation maybe (blocked injector/filter) didnt change filter in service

today i swapped the coil packs over and im getting the car to tick over but as soon as you start to rev it coughs and sputters
i disconnected in turn the coil packs and the engine noted changed to all 4 and wanted to stall
also disconnected in turn the injectors and same problem.

could this be either a fuel issue. ie change the filter or vacuum maybe

all comments welcome

thanks

I'd try looking for a vacuum leak before you start spending money, something has probably popped off somewhere

So today i went out to the car

Tried to start it. Its starts but runs very ruff for 10 sec then dies.

I checked the everything for something loose and nothing.
I fitted a new filter thinking it maybe an old filter or something

Still the same.

I have no idea now.

I got some coil pack coming now just to play it safe.

I also heard that the coil pack wiring can become brittle. Is there anywhere i can purchase a replacement

Where do you live? perhaps someone with a VAG-COM can pop over and scan your car for issues.

What have you got that on it for? I have no idea if it would connect or not because i've never seen or heard of anyone using one

It looks as if it is a Piggyback ECU where you can program it to how you like, which is a bit stupid because the ecu already fitted could be remapped and everything anyway

I have a set of coil pack being delivered today. Im just praying that cure it.

But imjust guessing now.

ECU could be at fault

Ive even thought the tesco fuel could be at fault  :lipsrsealed:
