Pd150 coolant temp sensor
« on: 22 October 2016, 11:31 »
Hi my glow plug light dose not stay on for any length of time it go's straight out. New plugs fitted so now I'm guessing it could be the coolant temp sensor. I've read there's 2 sensors and one controls if the plugs come on or not via the water temp. I went to vw and they tell me my car only has 1 coolant temp sensor and it's a green 4 wire one dose this sensor control the glow plugs on my gt tdi pd150 engine the car is a 53 reg

Yeh 4 pin plug. 2 pins ecu which also does glow plug. Unplug the temp sender and tyrn ign on. See if that makes them work. If not could be relay or fuse for glow plugs

Nice one! I changed the plugs yesterday tested the old ones and only one was working lol. Thought a new temp sensor would be a good idea as well. Before I fit it I'll disconnect it and see if the lights stays on longer

Or simply read coolant temp from ECU measuring blocks and see if it's reasonable.
