If you're in the Cambridge area and are looking for a good place to get your GTI serviced and maintained, I'd recommend Barr Tech.  I've used them for the past 4 years and Tino and Nino (brothers) are great guys, always looking to give the best possible service without any BS  

They only do the sportier end of the market, so don't think about approaching them to work on your 1.4.  Much cheaper than the local VW dealer...  

It's also a good place to visit as they often have a Ferrari or two in for work.

........and if you carry on past barr tech up cowley road about another 500metres you'll come to cowley road garage VW/audi specialist. Been using them now to repair my vw's for 9years and I would recommend them. Quite a few ex vindis staff there who set up on their own.
