Well I have a full rebuild kit in my hands, but still haven't found any where to get it rebuilt yet.

So.... I figured.... Its best to have another car whilst I find the right person for the rebuild right?

I went halfs on a 91, import mx5 with a mate as a bit of a run around and a track car.  Lots of little things need doing, coil overs needed, new tyres and wheels etc etc but it should be great fun when its all done.

First day we got it back after buying the car it went from:

So I'l be using this until I can get the charger rebuilt it looks like!

Charger is coming off this week in the hope it forces me to find someone to do the rebuild.

having trouble getting hold of C2/united motorsports as I was hoping they can do it

C2 motorsports are out of the question. They no longer want to touch it.

The latest is that I am going to rebuild this my self now. If this all goes well, I can open my self up to rebuild other peoples Vortech chargers if they would like me to. Hopefully will be giving it a shot maybe sometime over this weekend, or mid next week before Ultimate Dubs.

I had a bit of belt slip on the charger the other night, so during testing I managed to get a couple of sound clips

Thanks :)

Picked up a ASA mk3 TDI gearbox last night to pull the 5th from. Going from a .838 5th in my current passat box to a .717 should see me shaving about roughly 1000RPM off when cruising on the motor way. Currently at 70MPH it sits at 3200 RPM. So... 2100 RPM would be NAAIIICEE for my wallet on longer journeys.

Just waiting on things to settle down at my cousins new garage after a premises move, then I'll hopefully get back onto getting the charger rebuilt.

Hooligan. Sounds good though. That's a healthy tall 5th gear but if you're putting out plenty of torque shouldn't be too much of a step.

Interested to see how this works out too.

GLW charger rebuild, slow and steady wins the race

It probably is a little ambitious but I think it will cope with it fine. 5th is used for nothing other than cruising on motorways/idling round town. It should have plenty of beans to keep good speeds up with the lower revs. If it is a little too much all was not lost since the box only cost me £50.

Reading through else where, if the mk2 wasn't such a tin can shape and the engine has the power to do it, that gearing on my size tyres should see roughly 180 mph. Scary thought that... haha

And thus the mk2 aero package was born...

Small cut and polish today. Hoping to have it machined down before Early Edition providing I'm not in Italy.

Seriously hasn't been this clean in a very long while.
