Rear LED's on a 2009?
« on: 05 October 2013, 18:24 »
Had a search but can't really find the answer!

Looking to get the Golf R LED's for my 09 GTi, but the CarSystems website says cars before 2010 may need an updated BCM.

I have factory Xenons, and another site said if you had factory xenons you wouldnt need the updated BCM, all just confusing tbh!

So has anyone fitted some LED's to their 2009, and coded them in with VAGCOM and had no further issues?

I have a 2009 gti and fitted led lights with no problems, just a little code change with vagcom was all that was needed.

Ah fantastic!!

Was it just the coding of Byte 18? Changing it to 04?

That is the coding for xenons. I tried that with be halogens and it buggered up the DRLs. 15 is the magic number for them, rather than 04.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Didn't work with early xenons on my cars case. It made the front side lights 50% brightness.
I was in contact with rosstech for help with the codes for mine due to been rhd as I kept reading different info.
15 worked the best. There was another code that they recomend for lhd but that seemed to caused my xenons to not turn correctly.

May be a cause of trying and seeing what works best then?

As long as something works il be happy..

Don't even mind if I was to loose the DRLs!

Here is some information, I found on VW Vortex, it gives different variations for Halogen and Xenons.

Error message MFA   Rear fog lamp with Resistance: No
Problem with front parking light (weak light)   NO
LED tailgate light up more when braking   YES

MJ2010 with BCM from KW22/2009 (Software 0537, 0541)
Encoding   Halogen VCDS Byte 18 = 15   Xenon VCDS Byte 18 = 43
Lights go out at the tailgate opens   NO   Update on 0575 / 6 *
Error message MFA   NO   Update on 0575 / 6 *
Problem with front parking light (weak light)   NO   Update on 0575 / 6 *
LED tailgate light up more when braking   NO   Update on 0575 / 6 *

With MJ2010 / BCM 2011 from KW45/2009 (0573 & 0575 Software / 0576)

43 didnt work correct on my 2010 RHD car which is why I contacted rosstech.
