Foreign Spec GTI
« on: 29 July 2017, 09:36 »
I've been looking for a secondhand GTI and saw this left hooker, madly expensive considering it is so damaged, and I am in no way interested, but I thought it odd it had a manual hand brake. I guess whatever country of origin it came from, that was how they specced it.

Now that just looks weird and crap inside. Nice low miles and low price but I couldn't live with the dent in the driver's door.

I reckon Rebecca could sort that out.  :whistle:

Looks like an American import probably by one of their forces men in Germany and then registered here.

Looks like North American spec to me.

Manual handbrake, orange tinted repeaters, GTD wheels and no led taillights. Can't quite tell on my phone screen but look like no dual zone climate control either.

Surely its a total write off, as the roof is badly damaged!?

Surely it should be Cat C or even B, and recorded as such, seems like a gap in the system to me!

Yeah, North American spec. Speedo is in MPH which is a dead giveaway, don't think anyone other than us and NA market still uses MPH.

I love their comment "still starts and moves"! Also like the Nogaros on the GTI, wasted on mere oil-burners :wink: :whistle:

There are still thousands of US airmen and families stationed around the East of England mostly, they get to bring in US cars in shipping containers. Obviously this one wasn't worth taking back home...

Serious attention needed to the C panel and roof!
Now = 2011 MK6 GTI - Reflex Silver
Past = 2006 MK5 GTI - Tornado Red and Solid Black
