Hey,

Well ive had experience with pipercross filters and i havent been all that impressed to be honest, I hear good things about Ram-Air filters for the mk3, erm K+N are a steady bet, esp with the newer fitting kits, but i havent heard of the kit that you mention...im sure someone else has...

Cheers hope ive helped or added to the confusion anyway  ;D

hi m8ty,
the viper kit im talking of is the carbon sealed intake from pipercross(technology from lotus) 8)
i was thinking of getting that cause ive heard good things about it.
was jus wondering if 8v's have probs with oiled filters messing with the air flow meter?

cheers dave

do you know how much that carbon one is ?250, its ment to be very good but costs alot.  Ive got a pipercross as it was the only one that fitted my air flow sensor and it makes a lovely sound.  Until now I have not hear one person say a bad word about them infact quite the opposite

yeah ive heard only good things too, have you seen the size of the inlet on the standard air box :o you would have trouble fitting a 2p in there, thing is tho it widens to a good few inches right after strange.. that piper cross filter has come down to around ?200 now so i may get it(reported to be good for 500bhp apparently!!!)

The pipercross filter ive had probs with is for my mk2 1.6 driver on carbs, so its prob a different set up for you injection guys, I know that the massive cone filters that pipercross do (which I think you guys are reffering to) sound superb when administering the right foot ;D)  Still cant beat the sound of a inducting VR6 Yum! :P

Cheers

For the price of that induction kit you may as well get a new chip this will do alot more for you car.  Not too sure about carb cars.  The difference between pipercross and K&N is that piper cross is a foam filter and K&N a paper one.  If you dont clean your K&N the dirt clogs up and the cone can concave but the pipercross one will just not work as well.  I dont think there will be much difference between them I think its down to what lable you want

true enough i had a k+n on my old orion efi which sounded good but not as throaty as my mate astras pipercross filter, as for the chip i was gonna do that cause i saw an ad for one which the manufacturer cant tell is diferent they reprogram you existing ecu..you get the program before and after runs on a dyno and dyno setup for ?250 i think for the mk3 it gives 12-15 bhp 8)

I found filters sh!te on 8v gti's.  The only car I have found them work on was a chipped VR.  The best kit for an 8v is k&n filtercharger for about ?50 in standard airbox.  If you get a 57i you loose bottom end power
