Boost pipe leak
« on: 29 December 2014, 13:39 »
Heya, PD130 2002,

Bought it, previous owner said it had been remapped at some point, not under his ownership though so I'm not sure about that.

I had a 115 before. The 130 pulls like a 130 but it's a bit rough and it hisses like crazy and it turns out the boost pipe seal is completely missing. I'm getting it replaced tomorrow hopefully.

My question is, how much power am I likely to be loosing because of this seal? Because if it hasn't had a remap and I was loosing loads of power I imagine it wouldn't be pulling so well?

I'm not sure if I'm to expect it to suddenly pull like the 160-170 I would expect from a remap once the seal is back in.

Obviously I'll find out soon enough but I'm curious in the mean time.

Anyone have any idea what I'm on about?

It was the seal near the front drivers arch? Youre right though! My VW master tech mate reckons is was pulling like a rough 130 now its more like a 150 so seems its had a remap but could have a better one.
