im not sure what my MPG is but I had 475 miles from one tank £76, not bad I thought for all round driving! motorway and city driving! and not really driving economically.

Guessing at £1.44 per litre, that would equal 40.9mpg. Not that good, but I'd like to see a GTI get close without being deliberately frugal.

Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

My gti dsg now averages 30mpg ish, it was 27 when new.

At 70mph it does 41mpg

At 80mph does 36-37

All the time though I dont care.

I'm bored now.
I don't believe in global warming, sorry.
How are speed bumps legal?
I dislike lorry drivers who block lanes in traffic.
All burglars must die slowly ASAP.

I can only manage 330-350 miles with a full tank of Shell Optimax which had gone down a touch since I remap my car with Bluefin three months ago. I don't think I has altered my driving very much. Despite a slight drop in fuel economy, I will never go back to the standard map!

I take it your driving a GT TDI ?

Can’t better 37mpg while the winter was averaging 33mpg. It’s a GTI and living out in the sticks where B roads are aplenty you tend to drive enthusiastically. Still I am a private motorist where the fuel bill is getting a bit too much for me.
Can keep filling up no problem but in my book it’s now become too much. I average 18,000 miles a year.

Had a shot of a 1.4 Golf 160 bhp. What a machine this car still puts a huge smile on your face and the 4 days I was running it I was getting well into the lower 40’s by not changing my driving style to the GTI.

So now I am pondering on a Scirocco 1.4 160 fully loaded up with extras.
Or a flying machine 180 Bhp Polo GTI  fully loaded.
For sure it wont be another GTI it uses too much fuel.

I averaged iirc 43 on a trip up and back to Scotland a few months back on twisty A roads. Not bad for a car like this suprised mates who went with me.
My car is used as a daily commuter all its miles in past 2 years have been done like this except its trip to Scotland and back. Commute is a 14 miles each way through a centre of town and includes 34 sets of crossing or traffic lights !! I have averaged 34mpg total excluding the trip to Scotland.

It's all about driving style though as there's been loads threads on here before and it varies quite a bit depending on style and environment. I regular see 40-55 on the computer average in a morning in my way to work but the average drops on the way home.

I don't see why just because it's a 2.0t you don't care about economy. It's hardly the biggest/most powerful engine ever. But then, that's your view  Personally, I would still be interested in seeing what I could achieve whether I had a 3 cyl or V12. For anyone who's interested, I manager to average 45mpg on the motorway earlier. My previous A3 2.0 TDI would have been able to get high 50's-60+ I reckon but even so, I was pretty impressed. It was the most boring motorway journey I've ever done though.
