From Car Mag August 2020 on the Mk8 GTI:

Quote
In addition to the standard DNA spectrum, which ranges from Comfort to Sport, both extremes can be further extended by a couple of notches to SuperComfort and MegaSport. With ESP off and MegaSport activated, you are free to indulge in third-gear four-wheel drifts. The main improvements made to the brakes are a bigger master cylinder, which enhances the pedal feel, and a speed-sensitive booster which co-modulates the pedal effort in sync with specific driving conditions.

MegaSport eh...

IMO the rear is certainly one of the better profiles of the mk8, although I think the way the width of the roof gets narrower towards the back of the car looks a little odd. I don’t think the mk7 / mk7.5 roofline does that.

It might just be the way the light is hitting the back of that car, but to me, the GTI badge doesn’t look quite level - is the left side of the badge higher than the right side? Car OCD strikes again!

It's the spoiler causing that. I think it's too big. They seem to have gone for more of a CS style but missed. It masks off a bit of the rear screen at each corner. The back end isn't bad on the 8 but not the spoiler.

Hiding the outer upper corners of the rear screen behind the spoiler makes it look taller, narrower and more SUV-like to my eyes. I think the ‘stepped up’ rear diffuser above the exhausts also seem to add to the impression of making the car taller.

In spite of that, IMO the rear is the best angle to view the mk8 GTI from.

Well spotted! It certainly doesn’t look like the standard spoiler in the YouTube videos of the mk8 GTI.
