2015 golf GTI mk7 xenon bulbs?
« on: 16 August 2019, 08:09 »
Hi, I have a 2015 mk7 vw golf GTI, it has the LED DRL lights, but of a nighttime the headlights (low beam) look quite white, when I turn the car on the lights sort of do a little dance, it seems they’re adjusting, I wanted to know if anyone knew what light bulb / technology and kelvins they are? Are they Bi-Xenon, Xenon oror something else, and what is the colour temperature of these bulbs? Thanks

I'm sure they are bi xenon and the little dance is the standard procedure when you start the car. It's the self leveling calibrating procedure. Not sure on the specs though.

I replaced mine recently as one had failed and bought these - https://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/d3s-osram-original-xenarc-standard-replacement-35w-4100k-xenon-hid-bulb.html

As it turned out they were identical to the originals (other than they both worked!).

I'm fairly sure the kelvin value of the original bulbs is higher than 4100k - I've got a feeling they're somewhere around 5200k.

I replaced mine with 6000k versions which are a perfect match for the colour of the LED fog lights.

I'll have a look at one later and report back.

The Mk7 GTi is a Bi-Xenon headlight with adaptive lighting. The "Bi" bit just refers to the little flap that flips out the way when you switch to high beam.

The fitment is D3S for the Mk7, and as mentioned above, temperature around the 4100K if they are still the OEM bulbs that are fitted

Standard Xenons in the UK are always around 4300k colour. They do look quite yellow compared to the newer LEDs.

The 'Bi' bit just means it works for both high and low beam as some earlier ones had Xenon main and halogen high beams.
