Advice Please EML Light
« on: 23 June 2014, 07:14 »
Hi All,

New to this forum so Hi .

Just got a Golf GTI MK4, its a bit done up for my taste but i love driving it.. has 18 " Alloys, Lowered Suspension (Coil Over - what ever that means lol).. dump valve and it has a lot of Wolfsburg everywere ???.....

Anyway the question is the Engine Management Light has just come on, its due for a MOT in a month or so..... would this fail because of the light ?......... ive tried googling it but some say yes some say no..... ???

Anyone know ? Thanks in advance for any help/info........

I think that as of January this year an EML is an automatic failure.

As Chris says, you need to get it scanned with Vagcom to see what's causing the fault.

aren't any lights on the dash a fail now?
ARZ K03s, Oettinger Side Skirts, R32 front, Carbon stage 2, Forge 007p (yellow spring), Forge Actuator (yellow spring), Pipercross panel filter with DSG parts, N249 and N112 deleted, SAI deleted, Carbon canister deleted, Rear wiper deleted, Long Life turbo back custom exhaust with 200 cell sports cat, VR6/G60 clutch kit, Creation Motorsport TIP, Catch can, 'Wellycooler', K04 charge pipe, S3 ported inlet manifold - looks pretty standard on the outside though :)

Yup, they also have to illuminate and then go off again to make sure that someone hasn't just pulled a bulb out.
