Title: Golf 1.8T - exhaust emission fault
Post by: chubbm on 22 May 2003, 19:18
Hi,

I have a 2002 Golf GTI 150bhp petrol and for the past 13 months it has visited the VW garage 8 times.

The exhaust emission light appears on the dashboard and although the speed sensor and fuel pump switch have been replaced under warranty it is still a fault.

Can anyone offer any experience or advice as to what is causing this ?

thanks

Martin
Title: Golf 1.8T - exhaust emission fault light on dash

Hi,

just to update other vw drivers with my Golf 1.8T GTI.

The car spent 3 days in Alan Day vw garage when a technician kept the car overnight and ran a full diagnostic check.

The car was churning out random sets of 12 faults that could not be interpreted so the garage have proposed to replace the ECU. This part costs ?500 + fitting so hopefully this will cure the exhaust emission light appearing on the dashboard. Covered by warranty otherwise my wallet would have been ?1000 lighter
taking into account the 3 days of diagnostic checks.

If anyone has the similar problem then let me know.

thanks

Martin
