Rear Speaker Install Upgrade 3dr Model
« on: 22 July 2016, 22:50 »
Hi, I thought i'd upgrade the rear speakers in my 3dr Golf GTI. So pulled off the inner quarter panels to find those OEM plastic speakers mounted onto a metal frame. So I searched Google Images for idea's and went about designing my own speaker enclosure's and made these myself.
There are loads of pics to add if you want to see more?

Here's the build process from start to finish. I'm very tempted to create a bespoke enclosure for an 8" sub next??

Thanks Mate  All in good days work mostly. But spread over a few evenings and some time at work, the boss didn't mind lol. I'm going to make another set of enclosures soon for comparison, but slightly modified in size and shape. Plus I spot you around from time to time

Ah just give me a flash when you see me mate, it's very rare I'm out in it during the week but I'm normally ferrying the kids around at weekends

I must admit, I do work for a unique company. A unique boss too. As long as I don't spend to much time on projects it's fine

Cheers JV   So far the enclosures sound good. But I need to add accoustic material to stop some slight mid-range resonance. But I've also found out today that the enclosures are now fouling the arm rests in the inner quarter panel. Their to tall, so today I got a mate at work to make me two more enclosures that are now 1 inch lower and I've also changed the angled end of the box. I've decreased the angle by a few degree's. So now I've got a master copy of the exact box size now
So I've got loads more pic's to add tomorrow.
