VAG for mk3 questions
« on: 17 September 2009, 23:07 »
Forgive me if this is obvious but my ABS light has come on and VW are wanting to charge me £40 just to do a diagnostics check - something I can do myself I presume. A couple of quick questions:

1. I've seen a cable (OBD2 OBD-II 2 USB VAG KKL Cable for 409.1) on eBay - would this do? It also says "usable for ISO9141 and KWP2000 transmission protocol"
2. Where is the port that I connect it to on a MK3 16V GTI?
3. Is it fairly self explanatory when I run the software i.e. will it just runt the diagnostics and then give me an error code?

Thanks for anybody's help with this - quite a daunting task when you haven't done it before

Thanks for this - it seems like there's a lot of info on their site - great stuff!

Can someone tell me though where the VAG interface is located on the mk3 golf? Is it above the ashtray?

Thanks so much for your help with this... I'll get to work with it at the weekend and see what I can find.
