Hey guys,
Thought I would put a few pics up of my van that I've given a twist of gti flavour. I've had 10 years of owning Golf gti's, I really wanted to own another but knew I needed to update my van for work. As a result, I felt I needed to give the van a little bit of a gti feel and look. Its not finished by any stretch of the imagination but a work in progress. I need a couple of red lines on the grill and to go lower with some GAZ coilovers. The Reimo 333 seat is going to be fitted by the end of next week.
The van was bought as a 140bhp panel van. I spec'ed with Air-Con, Tailgate, Captains Chairs, Extra Battery, Appearance Pack, Trip Computer, Fogs, Sportline Alloys.
Extras added so far-
Dynamat, Insulation, Ply and Carpet, Ply floor with Altro, Rear Speakers, Reimo 333 seat with floor rails, Side opening windows in limo tint, 12v Sockets, LED lights in the roof and tailgate, my favourite- mk6 Golf gti check fabric on the seats and a check stripe down the roof lining, finished off with a steering wheel from a mk6 Golf R (ok not a gti but close enough!!!).
Hope you like.

Love it, could have done with it last week at Cockrock festival
-
Looks good, although I must admit I expected some Monzas on it!
-
We are looking forward to getting the rear seat so much, then its weekends away for the family for us!
If I could get Monza's in 5x120pcd, then they would be on

Ahhhh get some adapters on there

Haha, maybe some wobble bolts?
I thought I saw somewhere a while back about seeing Monza's in a 5x120pcd? Could that be reps though? Wouldn't be keen on that.
So pleased with the seats, found the company that supply VW with the Jakara. The conversion place did a very nice job on them.

Wow, thanks for a great response. I wasn't too sure what to expect after someone with a mk6 gti on the T5 forum being not impressed with me for putting Jakara in a van!
-
I admire what you have done with your van, I say do what you like its your car/van and ignore opinions that you don't agree with.

The whole van looks the nuts! Let us see it with the back seat too.

I will update this thread with progress as time goes. You guys gave me some of the ideas I wanted to try out as the mk6 gti is so good. I've really enjoyed spending time on here as you're all so friendly and helpful.
I've seen the rear seat today. Needs to be re-trimmed also, so will be a couple of weeks as they are so busy at the moment. If you're interested- its a full width Reimo 333 that can slide the full length of the back of the van and will come with a swing out removable table.
As it looks at the moment with standard Tassimo cloth. Sorry you can't see much as its still mostly wrapped-

Lovely looking with great touches. A wee RNS510 or RCD510 would finish the dash nicely

Oh yes, that is on the long term list of bits to improve.

Very nice mate, like it a lot.

Haha, did think that by the end. I was happy with the end result. I'm certainly no detailing geek but like a nice shine!

Fab van Matt. Top effort.
I drive a 12 plate T5 at work from time to time when I can get out of the office, I love it - pulls like a train!
-
Cheers Andy, sorry I missed seeing your post.
Well I've had the rear seat in for a couple of weeks now. We used the van for a long weekend in Cornwall and it was great. The van worked for us beautifully, gave us plenty of room to sleep my partner and me plus our 4 year old and 18 month old in his travel cot.
Rubbish pics of the rear seat but you get the idea-

I've just bought this for a bit of fun. Oh and it matches the van! Its a 1990 16v with 165k on it. High but runs nice, pulls well and drives smooth. It got electric windows, sunroof and mirrors, quite rare I've read.

Those seats are gorgeous as said before....
That golf looks like a lovely example!!!
-
The seats look great matt, and the mk2 looks mint from the pics!
-
Cheers guys
The mk2 is nice but does need a few bits to tidy it up better. If you look closely to the front bumper, the top edge ripples. Its a copy one and is crap  A new one will be found. Its got a stainless exhaust, boy its loud! Thats got to be changed for a standard one. Other than that, its just bits and pieces and drive it!
Think I'll keep it until next spring, when my mate is looking to part with his Edition 1 mk2 G60
-
@8vMatt, can you tell me where you bought the Jacara cloth from please? I want to buy a little bit.
-
Like the Van a lot.
nice toy too, not sure how it matches the van though.......
-
Not to be read literally, not a match but just a bit of fun. The van will be getting a Caravelle painted front grill soon. There are two chrome trim lines on it, I'll change them to red. So both will have red trim grills
