So I've got a mk2 8v Gti. I am 19, male, held a license for what will be 2 years by renewal (also will be 20). I am currently insured with Captain Pugwash Admiral. When I first got the car 7 months ago I was living in Newcastle, no NCB, main drive etc. and the premium was 900 for first year (was very pleased). When I moved to Leeds they collared me for 300 quid extra! (Was not pleased). The only mod of note is a 30mm drop. So that's the life story so far over with....
Car has started burning oil and I was considering a head refurb etc. But then realised the price of ABFs and thought "why not". But as soon as you utter the words "non standard engine" admiral shut your dreams down. It is such a common change, I don't suppose everyone is paying more per year than the car is worth?!
To cut this short as I am rambling, I either have some refurb work done to the engine for a few hundred bob and stay insured with cheap and miserable admiral. Or a spend a few hundred quid on an engine transplant and get insured by people who actually know what a car is (but will this option rape my wallet as much as the mainstream insurers?) just looking for some casual advise/opinions tbh.
Thanks guys!
