Building a false floor

It will be a raised floor, but not much

you could use your boot carpet as a template i spose, thats why i done when i made a false floor for my corsa

exactly what i did  just remember to take a few mm off because of the material you cover it with,

and a sealed box will work, just depends what size subs you have

I have a pair of 12" fli subs that i want to use

Going to get my thinking cap on as to what else i need to have in the back so i can do the whole lot in one go!

Well you need to mount the subs so you get them out if need be, so you will need some good grillage over them.

What about if i make the sub holder removable? ie not screwing the whole thing down - just securing it in another way?

Then if a problem pops up i can just lift that whole section up and fix what ever is wrong

Well whatever method you use to hold it down it needs to be substantial, 2 12" subs will cause a lot of vibration.
If you want to remove it I would use say at least 8No. bolts

Right then, shopping list is taking shape!

MDF - Measure space needed to cover
2x4 - Building the base
2 x Hinges - lift the rear section 
Glue - Holding the wood together
Screws - Secure the wood further
Fabric - covering the whole lot

2/3 x Amps - front speakers & rear speakers amped independantly and
1 x amp for the Subs (have this one already)
2 x Subs - Already have these in my garage
Full wiring kits - maybe run 0awg?
Wiring fixings - all fixed to the underside of the false floor

I am in the process of drawing up plans on where to place everything.
Im sure i have missed something!!

Right i have been a busy little bee getting most of the stuff ready for the work - now i just need one question answering - what size MDF should i be using? i dont want it to be too heavy!

silly question, but have you got the right screws? with counter sunk heads?

18mm wood for sure, ive used 12mm before, and it was shocking, i didnt realise it would make the difference
