Mark 3 1.8 GL - help with misfire?!
« on: 01 February 2007, 22:32 »
Hi guys,

I've just stepped tentatively into the ownership shoes of a Mark 3 1.8GL on an N plate with 98 thousand.  Full history with VW Dealership.

Seems to run great - the guy that sourced it for me was aware of a misfire which went away having swapped out the Coil, Leads, Dizzy and Rotor Arm.  Turns out however, upon driving it over to me tonight, that it's still evident - every now and again there's a slight misfire at speed.  Starts fine, idles from a 1000 dropping to about 800.  Hasn't cut out or stalled and refused to start as yet?

I have had a look at some of the threads on misfire, but they all relate to Gtis and VR6?  Can anyone shed any light on this for me perhaps in relation to a lowly 1800?  I'm about to get rid of a perfectly fine and running lovely Carbed Jetta for this car purely for hatchback space and something newer!

Can you put my mind at ease?!

Please?!  My mate did mention swapping the spark plugs and failing that he was going to try an injector unit [?] that he has at his workshop?

Help.  :(
