Looking at what you're going to get done, your probably only going to get about 205 hp (+/- 5 hp) with the AGU, & about 230 (+/- 5 hp) with the AUM.

Wish I'd researched/stumbled accross this about a year ago.  I probably would of got a newer model with higher miles, rather than an older one with low miles!

Thanks for that topher spot on

But, i dont think i will be goin for the big turbo... maybe in few years time but its not an option for me at the moment. All i will be doing, is ss exhaust (de-cat maybe :undecided:) Air filter and re-map. Plus few other things..... i want to get it up to about 250bhp that bout it for now..

So would i be best with a AUM or a AGU for this ? (forgettting about the big turbo )

Regards
Ryan

You'll never get a REAL 250bhp out of either of those engines on their standard turbos, without using nitrous. With filter, exhaust, decat and 4bar fpr, fully mapped to suit.. you'll be knocking on 230. K04 turbo upgrade would give you a nice reliable 250-260 bhp without stressing the engine. It really doesn't matter which base engine you start with, like i said strength-wise all the golf engines are the same. You might get a bit more power at the sacrifice of some torque with the AGU head.

Next person to say the AGU is stronger gets to wear the dunces cap

they all have 20mm pins apart from the AUQ (19mm). I found this out the hard way when I went to install BAM pistons into my AUQ lump and ended up having to buy new con rods to fit. great excuse to get forged ones though :D

The AGU lump has the larger valves yes. This only becomes beneficial at 300bhp+. Before that the small valve heads actually produce better results. I could go into why this is, but I'll save it for a talk around a BBQ sat in a field ;) There are people saying the AGU has a forged crank rather than a cast one. I've never heard of anyone snapping a crank...

As with all the k03 (and sport) turbo'd engines you'll only get 210bhp from them regardless of your special intakes or miltek exhausts. The NBDW engines will get better results than the DBW ones that's a fact.

personally if you have the intention of doing more than an air filter and exhaust buy a NDBW 150 lump.
