Title: possible flat battery, help please :)
Post by: bmw156 on 11 March 2010, 17:17
hey guys, been driving my gofl for a few days now, and i love it.

but today twice i have gone to turn it on, and it is as if i have left my lights on (which i havent) so i try again and its fine and starts fine, runs fine.

any idea why it would fail to start and then start fine?

possible alternator on its way out? battery on its way out?

i think ill get a multi meter on the battery and see if its drawing any current with the ignition off. lol

When you say "it's like the lights have been left on" are you saying it tries to start, or is there nothing?

It maybe the ignition switch.

it does the common "struggle to turn over"

so i turn the key back to turn it off, try again and it fires up fine, loose wire do you think?

Check your battery terminals for tightness, it could be a starter issue also.

You don't happen to have a hefty amp in there do you?

an amp should not drain the power anyway as they are powered up via the head unit, but if the amp is faulty it could be draining the power from the battery when engine is off.

I run a big amp in mine and never have issues... touch wood :afro:

good start..

then check the alternator. This can cause the battery to drain when the engine is off if its goosed.
