Potential problems from storage due to WLTP
« on: 26 November 2018, 08:42 »
My PP was confirmed built early September and since then its been sat in a field somewhere like many others due to WLTP.  By the time its shipped it will have spent at least 3 months sitting getting damp.  Just wondered if this might cause problems further down the line without remedial work from dealer - battery, brakes, condensation etc?  Or am I being paranoid and I should just accept and enjoy it?

I'd send it back if its been sat in a field for 3 months during this time of year. Probably ruined....

I was thinking about this today and getting quite anxious. Should we expect the dealer to do pretty much a full service on it at PDI - oil change etc

Almost certainly they won't do any of that unless you ask for it, they agree to it and you can verify its been done.

Given how non-factory ordered other marques sit around on airfields and ports for months and months, I can't imagine its terribly serious anyway IMHO.

They probably disconnect the battery, and unless the door seals are shot, I wouldn't be too worried about damp (They probably close all ventilation flaps too).

I'd be most concerned about rusty brake discs.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

If they were built before September they were allowed to be registered, I believe

Yep, only car produced after 1st of September needed to be WLTP certified.
