Mk3 estate rear seats.
« on: 16 March 2018, 13:13 »
I’ve just picked up a ‘R’ 1.9tdi estate which I’m going to do up over the next few months.
The previous owner has fitted a golf Gti interior and for some reason, the rear seats won’t lock into the upright position as the locating arms don’t line up properly.
I’ve checked that the seats are fitted properly and can’t see any reason why thinks won’t mate.
Are the rear seats different on an estate?

I'm pretty sure they are different on the estate. I had two estates, but got rid of the last one about 4 years ago.

Estate rear seats are different but you can cure the problem by getting the two top halves from an estate and transfer the covers and foams over from the gti seats to the estate bases/metal parts.

Cheers for that. So it’s just the two upper/rear sections that are different?
If so, I think there’s an estate in my local scrappies with just the rear seats in but, in a different colour.
