Heaters and temp gauge
« on: 10 December 2017, 15:59 »
Hi everyone

My temp gauge sits at 90 at idle(heaters are hot) but drops when driving(heaters go cold)
I have changed the timing belt water pump & thermostat & coolant sensor with vw parts but it's still the same 😠 the car doesn't overheat

Thanks mark

Replaced the housing?

Does radiator hose get warm before it reaches mid-80s (read measuring blocks with VCDS as gauge is not linear).

Radiator return hose should NOT get warm until engine has heated up to around 85-90 degrees. If it does before then I would think thermostat is still duff, happens quite often. Get one from Behr.

Was this a genuine thermostat or after market? As the after market1s are bogus

Just as a side note VW don't make thermostats so a "genuine" thermo is still made by another company. I have used a Meyle thermostat in mine after the original failed and after 3 months of driving, so far so good
