Mk 4 2 litre misfire
« on: 03 December 2017, 09:10 »
Hi- I  have the 2001 2 litre mk 4. I am getting a misfire when accelerating- the harder the acceleration, the more pronounced the misfire. When accelerating really hard, the 'engine emissions' light flashes. When driven gently, there are no issues.
I realise this could be a number of things, but want to be systematic so where do I start? Plugs? HT leads? Coil?
Any help much appreciated.
Cheers
James

Check fault codes for a start!

I don't have access to a diagnostic. I was wondering whether people had had similar experiences with this model and could point me in the right direction.

Get someone local or a garage to scan it.
Otherwise you might be wasting a lot of money not getting anywhere.
