Title: MAINTENANCE FOR VW GOLF MK1 CABRIOLET ELECTRIC HYDRO ROOF?

As topic above,i was not operate my mk1 clipper electric roof for about six months,so recently i tried to open the roof when i press the roof switch the electric hydro motor is working but the roof is not open so i stop pressing the switch for awhile and press again waited for about 10 minutes than only the roof start to open it was not like that what wrong?Thank You.

There is a small plastic gear inside the electric pump and this breaks in the middle thus it will do what you have. There is someone on VWVORTEX details on this, its a case of taking of the pump out and taking the motor part off and repairing the plastic gear and then putting back on together and your working as normal again ;) I will try and find the link for you or provide the details.

what you need
11mm,13mm socket. T25 Torx, Power Steering Fluid(G 002 012)
1.remove hydraulic PUMP from car.
disconnect power cable. and use T25 Torx two unbolt next to hydraulic lines. just pull lined. it came out.

2.remove a power moter from PUMP ues T25 Torx.
3.so you see this plastic piece and piece of metal(top of pic)
you can see plastic piece is crack.

so i just make piece of metal little more thick and bend each side.
insert plastic piece. glue it.

That it, your electric pump should work as normal now  :cool:
