Hiya
Anybody know how much a MAF for a 8v AGG (Siemens I think) is from VW?
GSF have them for £95 with £95 deposit until old one is returned. Are they any good though?

103+vat exchange from vw :)
-
ok - cool - VW it is then :-)

might be worth keeping an eye on the bay for a while if its not desperate. I picked up a brand new, boxed Hella MAF over xmas for £40!
That rivals the unused genuine VW Vr6 splitter that I got off there for about £30!
got to love ebay!

I got one off eBay that was still attached to the air box I was bidding on for about £35 inc. postage :D (Look for air boxes ;) ). Yeah, I know it was pricey for an air box, but I needed the MAF too :D

so ordered. £122 + 45 deposit to return the old one.
VW call it a Air Mass Meter. (AMM)

Ive always wondered why these are so expensive, its not much more than a piece of wire?
-
Still expensive, but a bit more than a piece of wire though, and calibration of air flow vs temperature loss etc. (see http://www.ehow.com/about_5382536_mass-airflow-sensor-failure-symptoms.html (http://www.ehow.com/about_5382536_mass-airflow-sensor-failure-symptoms.html) for explainations)
Shame I didn't see it before but seems that they are the same as the VW (Siemens) ones, but without the markup.

So it was a Hitachi part (not Siemens) that I had. Changed it and the car runs better now, more power at low rpm, easier to pull off etc. Phew.
Just the front bushes, clutch and injector cleaning (just cause I want to) to do this year - oh - plus a service of course.... But thats easy.
cheers,

It the same thing, I don't know why but the fuel system is referred to as "hitachi siemens"
